I got into an arugment the other day (big surprise) about gay marriage and after I backed the bitch into a corner she said we should "respect each others opinions." Hating gays, standing aganist gay marriage is not an opinion, it is bigotry. In that same vein we may as well repect racism and sexism, because they are after all, different opinions. And again, I suppose we should also respect Hitler's different opinions.
ITS NOT A DIFFERENT OPINION, ITS HATE. I feel no inclination to respect bigotry, nor do I have any respect for anyone who stands in the way of progress and happiness. People tell me Im an "angry liberal" well no shit, I have a lot to be angry about. For the first time in our countries history we are realizing what our constitution really means, if you cant handle it, if change is to much, get out of the way.

Every amount of progress we have made as a society has originally been at least one of the following:
1. a crazy liberal idea
2. against the will of god

De-segregation, Womens rights, workers rights, unions, birth control, aboltion, and a thousand more, were all liberal ideas that we now take for granted. We have got to get it together, and it starts locally. I have never been able to understand why people are so apathetic to our countries well being. Our government is in the hands of rich, old, white men, and not only do they not represent us but we dont hold them accountable for anything. We dont even control our shitty two party system, it controls us. The Republican party is currently making a fuss out of the issue of immigration. Was this a concern for Americans or did the Republicans make it a concern?

We need to take the power into our own hands and the best part is that its really fucking easy. All you have to do is get informed about whats going on, get involed, actually care enough to take a stand and raise awarness. Raise awarness among your friends and family, then go bigger, maybe your school, or your community. It is easier done then said, and more effective, because who cares what you believe if you dont do anything about those beliefs? Hell if you dont do anything about it, you might as well believe in nothing, cause its the equivalent. It doesnt matter what your political beliefs are. I truly believe neither Democrats or Republicans represent anyone. Dont blindly subscribe to a party line, find out what you truly want to see change, then make it happen.

Whenever I talk about the issue of abortion with people it almost always ends up with everyone pointing out specific examples like rape, adoption, birth control, etc. I feel like those discussions miss the point or miss the bigger picture and I feel like that bigger picture this is. It does not matter what you believe abortions are going to happen whether they are legal or not. The question then becomes do we want pregnant women to perform unsafe and unsanitary abortions? I would hope not. Now follows my brief history of abortion.

Abortion is not a recent phenomenon. Abortions have been taking place as long as women have been giving birth. As far as America is concerned it has been happening since our status as colonies. There are basically three phases abortion legislation, the first from the colonial period to the 1820s, then 1820 to 1973, finally 1973 to present.

In the first phase, from the colonial period to the 1820s, there were no laws governing abortion. Between 1820-40 there were numerous laws passed preventing abortions, though most were passed penalizing those who aided women, for example, doctors. It is also worth noting that the Catholic Church declared itself against abortion in 1869. We can thus assume that for the 1,869 years of its existence it did not have a problem with abortion.

The second phase, from the 1820s to 1973, was the period in our country when abortions were illegal. However, abortions still occurred and did not wane because it was illegal. Women would commonly use wire hangers, beat their stomachs, and throw themselves downstairs to prevent childbirth. For what reasons simply look at your family tree. Most will find that the further you go back in time the larger the families will get. For example, my mother has 5 siblings. Her father had 7 siblings and her mother had 11 siblings. Most families today have around two kids. Women did not want to have to take care of so many children. More children meant more work, and less rest. One of my professors told us that her grandmother aborted two fetuses after giving birth to ten children. Whether you like it or not, it happened.

In 1973 the Supreme Court made abortion legal with its landmark case, Roe v.s. Wade. Their reasoning was that abortion laws violate a woman’s right to privacy. With that abortion became legal.

What is important to recognize is that abortions were once illegal and yet still occurred. Not only did they occur but the methods used were very harmful to the pregnant women. It is then clear that abortions will not go away if made illegal. The only thing that will be accomplished is making it more dangerous for women to have abortions; a factor has not deterred them in past or the present. Nor is there any reason to believe the number will decrease. We live in a capitalist society and there is money to made, a lot of money, by performing abortions. Pro-lifers must understand this. They must understand that their opinions law or not, will never stop abortions. If indeed they are concerned with “human” life they should find a more realistic tactic to prevent abortions. I guess what I want to say to Pro-lifers is that you cannot solve society’s problems by pretending they don’t exist.

Starcraft is game that promotes imperialism, capitalism, expolation of the working class, nuclear warfare, and military dictators. The whole notion of the game is to gather resources and expand, at the other players expense. You gather resources too the point that you totally exhaust them, which is not enviromentally friendly. The game is all about money. How much you have is equal to how much you can produce and how quickly you can produce it. Production is key and to produce you need workers to gather resources for you. Those gathers know nothing but constant hard work from which they never benefit. Of course they will never rise up because you rule with an iron fist. Everything is ruled by your military power and the more you have the more people fear you. So much so that nuclear warfare is encouraged. Im addicted to this game.
